We are excited to announce that Cherokee will be fielding a cheerleading squad this season. As with all our programs, we wanted to make sure we have the best coaches to offer our participants. We believe our Cheer Director and Coaches will provide an awesome experience for our cheerleaders.
Our cheer program will be led by Karen Cole Dameron, DDS. Karen was born and raised in Newport News, VA. At the age of 8, she first put on a cheer uniform to root for her cousin’s football team. She continued to enjoy cheerleading while also focusing on competitive gymnastics. These experiences allowed her to earn a spot on the Virginia Tech cheerleading squad. Currently, she practices general Dentistry in Glen Allen, Va. Karen is married to James, head coach of the Sophomores team, and loves cheering for her son Cole!!
Our cheer coaches will be MacKenzie Eggers and Kennedy Eggers. MacKenzie will be a returning student at Trinity Episcopal School in the Class of 2021. She has participated in both competitive cheer and recreational cheer for the last 10 years at Cheer Extreme Competitive Cheer and Western Wildcats Cheer.
Kennedy will be a new student at Trinity Episcopal School this year in the Class of 2022. She has participated in both competitive cheer and recreational cheer for the last 8 years at Cheer Extreme Competitive Cheer and Western Wildcats Cheer. In 2018, her J3 team finished in 6th place in the World Championship (Summit).
We are very excited to have the ladies join our program and volunteer their time to bring a great experience to the girls!
The plan is to have one squad that will cheer for one of our teams every Saturday. The cheerleaders will be traveling with our teams. More information will come from Karen on the start date of practice and practice days. Registration is now available on the website at www.CherokeeTitans.org.
